Hello my name is cory eichler-hamalainen and I was looking at your website when I found out one of the security services is dector dog. I was just wondering would I be able apply to work as a detector dog handler or would I have to work normal security before I apply for the dector dog service. Also do handlers take their dogs home with them or do they stay in a kennel.

Hello Cory,

Part of the reputation at Blue Knight Security is our ability to hire from within. The detector dog security officer program is designed to train individuals interested in becoming a handler after one year with our agency. The reason for this is simple, there is a lot of hard work and responsibility that has to be earned before we turn one of our dogs over to a handler.

Our dogs do remain in kennels unless the dog that you will be working with is your own, in which case you will be required to take care of your own dog at your own resources.

The only other cost for the officer would be the training program, 2-3 days per week for 6 months at the rough cost of $2200.00. The training is certified by the World Detector Dog Organization and is transferable should you ever follow any endeavours elsewhere.

Thank You for your interest, we look forward to hearing from you soon!
